About Us
In old Emirati heritage, maqaseer and a singular maqsurah were considered shaded or covered seating areas built next to or near homes, residential areas, or open courtyards and they were open from one side for ventilation. The purpose of setting up these maqaseer was to blend hospitality with enjoying the open air.
Maqaseer in the past were similar to what we now refer to as outdoor seating areas, traditional shaded spaces made from palm fronds, arish, wood and woven materials (al-sadu).

Exploring an Icon of Emirati Social Life
In Emirati heritage, maqaseer encompass many beautiful forms that symbolize hospitality and the spirit of connection among people. The summer maqsurah was well-ventilated and open, providing shade from the sun and protection from the harshness of nature. Meanwhile, the winter maqsurah was usually built with thicker and more enclosed walls to keep out the cold and maintain warmth during the beautiful winter days. Entire tribes or neighborhoods used the public maqaseer, while private ones were reserved for tribal sheikhs or large households.
Maqaseer’s commercial journey is considered to be the sixth part of a long-standing series of adventures marked by challenge and success. The journey began with tailoring women’s clothing according to the latest trends and selling them across some GCC countries. It was a unique experience that blended high-quality patterns and embroidery with a spirit of adventure and a passion for wholesale trade. This path later evolved into a wide diversification of commercial activities, including a boutique for fashion accessories, a store for consumer goods, and eventually a women’s beauty center.
In the fifth phase, we took a completely different direction from our beginnings, entering the field of manufacturing marine cages for fish trapping, a thriving trade at the time and a way to preserve and enrich a family heritage that was on the verge of fading into oblivion.
